UK: Plans have been submitted for a 37-key aparthotel in The Liberties area of Dublin after planning was refused last year.

The proposed site means developers will destroy two derelict buildings.

The area in The Liberties is of “historical, cultural and archaeological merit” according to the planning document but the existing buildings are not protected structures.

Plans submitted in 2021 for a 19-room aparthotel were refused because of the “overconcentration” of hotel developments at the cost of residential housing.

The new plans submitted by Peninsula Suite Holdings LTD include a four storey 37-room aparthotel, with a cafe and community space. There will be a bicycle park for guests and staff.

Staycity Aparthotel Tivoli is a short walk from the proposed site on the same road Francis St.

Last year American real estate investor Kennedy Wilson applied for planning permission for an aparthotel in Dublin’s North Docks.
