PORTUGAL: Mercan Properties Group has teamed up with Hilton to manage two hotels in Portugal including one with extended stay suites.
The two Lagos hotels are the 180-room Lagos Marina Hotel Curio Collection by Hilton, and the 90-key Hilton Garden Inn Lagos, which includes 27 extended stay suites.
The hotels are due to open in 2024.
This is the third deal Mercan has done with the international hotel group, following the opening of the 77-room Sé Catedral Hotel Porto, Tapestry Collection by Hilton and the 130-room Hilton Garden Inn Évora in Portugal’s Alentejo region, which is due to open at the end of this year.
Jordi Vilanova, president of Mercan Properties Group said: “The agreement now signed with Hilton is a proof of the development and interest that the city of Lagos has generated.”
Carlos Miro, managing director of development in Spain and Portugal, Hilton added: “This announcement solidifies our commitment to Portugal as a key strategic market for Hilton, with plans to more than double our portfolio in the coming years.”
Earlier this year another extended stay brand invested in Portugal, with Wilde Aparthotels making its debut in the country.
