US/Sweden: Hotel company Hyatt has launched two new properties in the US and Sweden, including the debut of Hyatt Studios in Alabama.

In the US, the company opened its first-ever Hyatt Studios hotel in Mobile, Alabama. The new-build, 124-room upper-midscale property is located near Mobile’s airport and targets business and leisure travellers.

Operated by LBA Hospitality, in-room amenities include a fully-equipped kitchen and a separate lounge featuring a sofa or sofa bed, along with multifunctional table.

Elsewhere on property there’s a 24/7 market, a complimentary grab-and-go breakfast, a 24-hour fitness studio, self-service laundry, an outdoor patio with a fire-pit and grill, and an expanded Borrows Program where guests can borrow everyday essentials such as blenders, board games, and items for kids and pets.

Developed in partnership with real estate development and management firm 3H Group Inc., the project broke ground less than a year ago. Hyatt said the Mobile opening sets the stage for future Hyatt Studios projects with more than 100 in the pipeline currently across the US.

“The grand opening of Hyatt Studios Mobile / Tillmans Corner marks an exciting milestone as we continue to expand our offerings to meet the growing demand for extended stay accommodations,” said Dan Hansen, global head of Hyatt Studios.

“This is just the beginning for Hyatt Studios as the brand demonstrates enthusiasm among hotel owners and developers. We’re proud to celebrate the grand opening with 3H Group and LBA Hospitality, whose dedication has brought the Hyatt Studios vision to life,” he added.

Meanwhile in Europe, Hyatt opened its first Hyatt Place hotel in Sweden: Hyatt Place Gothenburg. Located in the city’s mixed-use Karlastaden district, the 151-room hotel is part of the Karlatornet skyscraper development, which is set to become the tallest building in Scandinavia.

Developed by Serneke and operated by Winn Hotel Group, the property includes an all-day restaurant, event spaces and a fitness centre.

Hyatt said the opening aligns with its strategy to expand the Hyatt Place brand in key European cities, following recent launches in France, Spain, and the UK.

Michel Morauw, managing director for north EAME at Hyatt, said: “As Gothenburg continues to emerge as a hub for both business and leisure travel, we are excited to add to this momentum by welcoming Hyatt Place Gothenburg Central to the city. With a prime location, modern designed spaces and thoughtfully sourced dining options, we look forward to introducing guests to all that the hotel has to offer.”

Jim Tierney, senior vice president of development at Hyatt said: “These two openings — one in the heart of the US South and the other in northern Europe — reflect our dual focus on domestic brand innovation and international growth.”
