Middlesbrough student block could become an aparthotel

UK: A proposal submitted to Middlesbrough Development Corporation reveals plans to change the use of a student accommodation block on Borough Road into a 13-unit aparthotel.

Located at 144-146 Borough Road, the applicant has submitted plans to change the building from C3 student accommodation to C1 aparthotel. 

Diagrams show that the internal layout will remain largely unchanged, with six apartments on the ground floor and seven apartments on the first floor. Each apartment will feature cooking facilities and an en-suite. 

Existing communal areas including shared laundry facilities would also remain. 

A decision on the proposal is due to be made after the consultation period, which runs until 30 September. The determination deadline is 3 November 2026.
