Australia: Operator Veriu Group in partnership with developer Riverlee has commenced construction on the Punthill Epping aparthotel to the north of Melbourne, set to open in mid-2026.

The project forms part of the $2 billion (£1.04 billion) New Epping precinct, a major urban development spanning 51 hectares of regenerated land. Led by Riverlee, the precinct is set to include residential, commercial, and healthcare facilities.

Located at 215 Cooper Street, the Punthill Epping aparthotel will introduce 100 serviced apartments to the area, targeting both business and leisure travellers.

The property will offer studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, each equipped with kitchens and in-room laundry facilities. It will also feature conference and meeting rooms, a gym, onsite parking, and a guest pantry, with a restaurant offering alfresco dining and a first-floor terrace.

Zed Sanjana, chief executive of Veriu Group said: “Strategically, we’ve always sought to grow the Punthill portfolio by opening in locations supported by major sources of corporate room night demand. Riverlee’s $2 billion New Epping project is expected to transform Epping from a suburb into a major regional centre, which will drive a significant increase in the number of residents, businesses, and visitors to the area.”

In line with New Epping’s commitment to sustainability, the aparthotel will also be an all-electric building featuring an electric heat pump hot water system.

Veriu Group has recently opened new properties under its Punthill brand in Victoria, New South Wales, and the Australian Capital Territory, with further expansions planned.
