AUSTRALASIA: Radisson Hotel Group announces rapid expansion plans for the APAC region including Country Inn & Suites in key Australian cities.

The group is to expand with Radisson Individuals, Country Inn & Suites by Radisson and Radisson Red in key cities across Australia.

The Country Inn & Suites brand, which has a strong base in America with 460 hotels (and 18 in development) and Asia Pacific (20 hotels operating and 9 in development), will be adapted for the Australian market to keep the brand idea of a traveller feeling at home. It will be located in cities such as Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Europe and India are the big feeder markets for Australia and Country Inn & Suites aims to look at each property for both owners and guests. Radisson will focus on the conversion of independently-run properties with around 50 keys for the brand. The upper midscale Country Inn & Suites properties typically have guest rooms and suites as well as pools, restaurants and cafes, offering both business and leisure travellers the option for extended stays.

The group will concentrate on large buzzy cities for its other brands Radisson Individuals and lifestyle brand Radisson Red.

In other parts of APAC, the Radisson recently announced plans to add 100 new properties in Thailand by 2025. This is in line with the group’s aim for a 400 per cent portfolio increase across the Asia Pacific region so that it will have around 2,000 extra properties in the next three years. Radisson currently operates six hotels in the country – four in Bangkok and two in development for Phuket and Pattaya.

Thailand was been identified as one of five key growth markets, along with India, Vietnam, Australia and New Zealand.

Accor’s TRIBE aparthotel will make its debut in Bangkok – opening by the end of the year.
