US: The Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Hagerstown, outside Washington, is changing some of its hotel rooms into extended stay apartments.

The hotel, which was built in 1985 with generously sized rooms, will offer 34 apartments when the redevelopment is completed at the end of this year.

The Ramada Plaza will still offer traditional hotel rooms alongside its extended stay options.

According to a Washington County building permit issued last month, the most recent stage of development will be a USD$500,000 project to convert 18 hotel rooms into 10 extended stay suites.

The apartments will have fully equipped kitchens and guests will be able to use the facilities of the hotel.

The hotel is located in Hagerstown, Maryland which is around 1 hour 20 minutes from both Washington and Baltimore by car.

Hagerstown has a history for industry around the rail roads and today continues to provide manufacturing for highways and railways, as well as healthcare and retail outlets, which attract visitors from both Baltimore and Washington.

The US extended stay market has blossomed since the pandemic as reported by SAN here.
