UK: Plans to redevelop part of Reading town centre including an aparthotel are in the final stages of approval.

Thackeray Estates plans to transform Queen Victoria Street and Friar Street in Reading, into a mixed use development with a seven-storey aparthotel, market square and shops.

The vision is to create a vibrant mixed use development in this key town centre location while protecting one of the key heritage assets of Reading for future generations. The development will have a reduced carbon footprint with low energy buildings aiming for BREAM Excellent.

There will be a 163-room hotel, which was reported as being a Jury’s Inn, and 104 serviced apartments on the upper floors of the development, for longer stays.

The idea is to create an area the local community can use for working, socialising and shopping, as well as attracting visitors from outside the area.

Thackeray Group is a property development and investment company with a national portfolio of properties across various sectors including retail, office, care, residential and short-stay.
