US: Utah-based Woodbury Corp is planning to open a Residence Inn by Marriott in historic Haymarket, in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The 120-room aparthotel will be a Residence Inn by Marriott and will be built next door to the company’s sister property Courtyard by Marriott. Woodbury Corp developed and now owns that hotel.

Planning is still in the early stages but a rendering of the aparthotel shows a six-storey building (pictured).

Apartments at the Residence Inn by Marriott will feature bedrooms, living areas and fully equipped kitchenettes, as well as a fitness centre and a business centre.

The extended stay hotel will be aimed at both business and leisure travellers (and perhaps parents of students at the nearby University of Nebraska-Lincoln) staying more than three nights.

Although the new hotel will be built on land owned by the university, it is not involved in the development.

Other extended stay properties we have written about in Nebraska include the My Place Hotels of America.
