UK: Synergy Global Housing (Synergy) has announced Robert Alley has joined the company as EVP International.
Alley joined the serviced apartment sector in 2017 as the chief operating officer for Roomzzz Aparthotel, where he was responsible for customer experience, operations and strategic development.
He will be based in London and report to president Debra Christopher.
President Debra Christopher said: “We’re very excited to welcome Robert to the team as he’s not only business-minded, innovative and entirely hospitality-focussed; he puts people at the heart of his approach to leadership. As we continue to expand internationally, we’re very conscious that we need to design our leadership team with our growth trajectory in mind, and Robert hits the sweet spot perfectly.”
Robert Alley said: “Since joining the sector, Synergy has always proven to be an organisation driven by partnership, community, and most of all, hospitality. The company propels the industry forward with innovative solutions, best-in-class apartments and a world-class supply chain network; all backed with client and guest service excellence. I’m very excited and honoured to join this group of industry leaders.”
Alley began his career at the Forte Hotels before joining Hilton Hotels, where he took on roles as area revenue manager, area director of sales and marketing director – leisure and events. After Hilton, Alley worked in executive sales, marketing, events, and product roles for the InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG), glh Hotels, and Hallmark Hotels.
Alley’s appointment is the latest in a string of international staff moves that aim to position the organisation to build upon its growth in the region.
In January, Synergy hired Singaporean-based Michelle Low as VP of global supply chain and promoted Charlotte Winter to General Manager, EMEA.
More recently, Synergy recruited former managing director for AKA Hotels and Hotel Residences, Karen Mills, to lead operations for the EMEA region.
President International, Stephen Hanton said: “Robert’s strong industry reputation, commercial instincts and team-building skills — along with his deep experience in sales, marketing, operations, development and working in both international and family business across multi-models — makes him a perfect fit to lead the international arm of the company from now and into the future”.
Alley is also the current chairman of the Association of Serviced Apartments Providers (ASAP).
