The awards, given at the HSMAI Revenue Optimising Conference, celebrate the best work done over the past year in the hospitality industry. Steiner’s win after being hired at the end of 2018 signifies the extraordinary start to his future career in serviced apartments.

The judges said this of their decision: “The winner of the Young Talent Award has, at an early stage in his career acquired a complete understanding of hotel operations but also works closely with finance, commercial, development and most importantly with the people and culture function of his company. This gentleman transformed food safety standards and processes for his company, becoming number one in the U.K. and Europe

They added: “This ‘master of all trades’ at 30 deserved an extra recognition.”

Though young, Steiner came to Cycas with a strong career behind him, having risen to the level of senior hotels director at ISS Facility Services UK. This put him in charge of a portfolio of 75 hotels.

Cycas’ COO Wayne Androliakos said of Philip’s win: “Since joining Cycas at the end of 2018 Philip has been instrumental in helping put new systems in place to really support the company’s incredible expansion across Europe and drive the Cycas values throughout the business, so this award is incredibly well deserved.

He added: “What’s more, his hands-on approach as a Regional General Manager for Quest Liverpool City Centre, ensured that the aparthotel became the city’s no. 1 hotel on TripAdvisor within just a few months of opening, as well as Quest’s best hotel globally in terms of guest experience, so we couldn’t be prouder.”

This adds to Cycas’ existing 2020 achievements, having made four senior hires earlier in January. They also added a new CFO, Peter Habelitz, to the team in December.
