US: Spruce, an apartment amenity and service provider, has acquired housekeeping startup The Minte.

Headquartered in Chicago, The Minte supplies a number of housing partners and is expanding into condos, apartments and corporate housing in the United States.

The acquisition of Minte allows Spruce to expand its footprint into the Chicago area with property management companies. It also allows The Minte greater opportunity to scale and serve more clients.

Collectively, Spruce and The Minte will serve more than 450,000 apartments.

Joanna Gornikowski, CEO at The Minte, said: “It has been our mission to innovate our customers’ homes and lifestyles—one apartment, one customer at a time. Joining forces with Spruce will give people a blend of service and technology that delivers exceptional experiences.”

Spruce founder and CEO Ben Johnson, added: “We’re always looking for ways to elevate our services, and the addition of The Minte is a natural fit that will enhance the experience for everyone. Local businesses can use our platform to tech-enable their operation, and residents receive convenient, expert and affordable services.”

Spruce has recently expanded into the Washington DC area, and adds Chicago as its fourteenth market. The company offers chores, housekeeping, pet care, laundry and dry cleaning services through its app, which residents can book on-demand.

The Minte is backed by Dundee Venture Capital, MATH Venture Partners, Revolutioin’s Rise off the Rest Seed Fund, Hot Glass Ventures, Firebrand Ventures, Blue Note Ventures, Sandalphon Capital, Network Ventures and M25 Group.
