Worldwide: Serviced apartment provider Synergy Global Housing has been awarded the ISO 27001:2022 certification for data protection and security.

ISO 27001 is an international standard for information security management systems (ISMS) and covers cybersecurity and privacy protection. It is designed for any size of organisation from any sector and defines the requirements an ISMS must meet. It also provides guidance for establishing, implementing and maintaining an ISMS.

According to the ISO website, conformity with the ISO 27001 can help organisations to:

• Reduce vulnerability to the growing threat of cyber-attacks.

• Respond to evolving security risks.

• Ensure that assets such as financial statements, intellectual property, employee data and information entrusted by third parties remain undamaged, confidential, and available as needed.

• Provide a centrally managed framework that secures all information in one place.

• Prepare people, processes and technology throughout the business to face technology-based risks and other threats.

• Secure information in all forms, including paper-based, cloud-based and digital data.

• Save money by increasing efficiency and reducing expenses for ineffective defence technology.

Synergy dedicated 800 hours to focus on meeting the requirements of the standard.

Debra Christopher, president of Synergy, said: “Data breaches have become a major threat to businesses from an operational and financial perspective, and we know that whatever happens to Synergy’s security impacts that of our clients. By achieving the ISO 27001:2022 certification, our clients can have confidence that we are doing all the right things to protect their data.”

Mitch Christian, information security officer for Synergy, added: “We are one of the first companies in the corporate housing industry to receive the new ISO 27001:2022 certification. The 2022 version advances the 2013 version in that it now encompasses the entire business process when it comes to protecting information assets. We know this certification and commitment will build trust, assuring our clients that their information is handled securely and professionally.”
