Australia: TFE Hotels has announced a $100 million investment programme to refurbish and reposition the first generation of Adina apartment hotels across Australia and Europe.
The programme will include upgrades to apartments, public areas and guest amenities as the operator evolves the Adina brand alongside its international development pipeline.
TFE Hotels said it was working with third-party hotel owners as well as investing in its owned properties. The company did not specify how many Adina properties would be refurbished or provide a completion date for the overall programme.
Antony Ritch, CEO of TFE Hotels, said: “The Adina brand and experience are evolving as travellers increasingly look for hotels that can provide both the living experience with full hotel services and amenities.”
The investment follows refurbishments at Adina Darling Harbour, Adina Perth and Adina Town Hall in Sydney.
The 114-key Adina Darling Harbour has reopened following a multimillion-dollar refurbishment led by architecture and design practice Bates Smart. The project included redesigned apartments and public spaces as well as the opening of Shoreline Kitchen.
The design takes inspiration from the hotel’s waterfront location and uses materials, textures and colours referencing Sydney Harbour. The refurbishment marks 26 years since the property opened ahead of the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000.
In Europe, Adina Frankfurt Neue Oper is undergoing a 12-month refurbishment programme that began in January. The project will update its 134 apartments and communal areas using natural materials including timber and stone.
The property’s public spaces will be redesigned as gallery-style environments featuring locally produced and Australian artwork alongside upcycled furnishings.
Moritz Klein, TFE Hotels’ head of operations for Europe and the UK, said sustainability principles had been incorporated through material sourcing and a focus on long-term design quality.
Adina Budapest has also completed a nine-month refurbishment covering 75 apartments in its main wing and its public spaces. The new interiors use an earth-toned colour scheme with olive and yellow details.
Further refurbishments are planned across Adina’s apartment hotel portfolio in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Singapore.
The investment programme accompanies the brand’s development pipeline, which includes new properties in Brisbane and Hobart as well as its first UK locations in Cambridge and Glasgow.
TFE Hotels is also introducing new brand initiatives and implementing a digital guest experience platform across the Adina portfolio.
