US: Flexible hospitality and multifamily operator Placemakr will launch its first aparthotel in San Antonio, Texas, early next year.
Located at 606 N Presa Street in San Antonio, The Maverick will offer 86 fully-furnished apartments available for short, medium, and long-term stays.
Amenities include a rooftop penthouse for private events, guest lounges, and on-floor laundry facilities. Future plans involve the addition of a gym.
Developed in partnership with AREA Real Estate, the property will be available for booking by the end of 2023 with plans to open in early 2024.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Placemakr to merge its innovative and signature experience with the iconic history of The Maverick,” said David Adelman, principal at AREA Real Estate. “We’re always looking for ways to provide innovative solutions in commercial real estate. This partnership is the ideal solution to modernise this historic property and meet the rising demand in the San Antonio area.”
Jason Fudin, CEO of Placemakr, added: “These are exciting times for Placemakr, as it represents our commitment to bringing our signature experience across the country. We’re invested in innovation in the hospitality space and believe that this blended experience of apartment and hotels is the future of the industry. We’re excited to continue our expansion while simultaneously bringing in top talent to our C-suite to ensure that the experience we deliver is best in class.”
As Placemakr continues its expansion across the United States, the company has also announced it will promote Ryan Rickabaugh to chief operating officer. Before joining Placemakr in 2022 as SVP operations, Rickabaugh spent over a decade working with retail brands such as L’Oreal, Kate Spade and Bonobos.
Rickabaugh said: “I am excited to continue my journey with Placemakr as we grow our tech enabled platform and continue our focus on streamlining operational efficiencies while creating an unparalleled customer experience.”
Earlier this year, Placemakr raised $65 million to fuel growth and appointed Timothy Franzen as chief development officer.
