Channel Islands: A 103-key Wilde by Staycity aparthotel will anchor a £120 million mixed-use scheme in St Helier if plans are approved.

The scheme, by developer Le Masurier, will also include 238 homes and a courtyard with 10,000 square feet of retail, F&B and commercial space.

Visit Jersey described the plans as “a major boost to tourism” which could generate up to £9 million of tourism revenue annually.

If the scheme, called Les Sablons, is approved, it could lead to the creation of 120 construction jobs and 25 within the Wilde aparthotel.

A planning application is due to be lodged by the end of the month. Developers say they could receive approval by September, with work potentially starting in Q1 2023 and the project potentially being completed by 2025.

La Masurier managing director Brian McCarthy, said: “Staycity were in a very competitive position with Les Sablons. We had two other competitors who were not successful because of Staycity. I think that demonstrates that there is demand for new hotel stock in the centre of St Helier and operators are literally queuing up to come here.”
