Germany: Tech-powered hospitality operator Bob W will launch a 52-unit aparthotel in a former post office building in Dortmund.

Bob W has signed a long-term lease with Aroundtown to transform the Alte Post building adjacent to Dortmund’s main railway station into an aparthotel, featuring a mix of studio and one-bedroom apartments with kitchens and a coworking lounge.

The refurbished, mixed-use asset will also feature more than 10,000 square-metres of office space as well as retail and other commercial facilities.

Fit-out work has already begun with the property set to open in 2026. It marks the fifth German city for Bob W, and the eighteenth in Europe.

Niko Karstikko, co-founder of Bob W, said: “Our expansion into Dortmund is the latest step in Bob W’s mission to revolutionise the hospitality industry across Europe. The Alte Post building is a fantastic addition to our portfolio and a great example of how we’re breathing new life into older properties.

“Bob W continues to lead Europe’s rapidly growing aparthotel market and Dortmund’s vibrant culture, strong business scene, and excellent transport connections make it a perfect fit for everything we do. We can’t wait to bring our blend of flexibility, sustainability and tech-driven service to this dynamic city,” he added.

Further expansion in Germany is planned, with Bob W in “advanced discussions” with landlords and property owners in Stuttgart, Cologne, and Hamburg.
