IRELAND: Dublin City Council has given the go ahead for an 11-storey hotel development on Dublin’s Abbey Street Upper.
The mixed use development by Marlet Property Group, will include a 252-bedroom hotel and a 10 storey 222-key aparthotel, as well as two retail units on the ground floor.
Facilities laid out in the planning application include reception areas, lounge, restaurant and bar, a terrace on the first floor and an external courtyard. There will also be space for parking and bicycles.
The development on Abbey Street Upper and Great Strand Street is close to the Jervis Street Red Luas Line Stop, Jervis Shopping Centre, Ilac Centre, and the vibrant Henry Street, which offers a range of restaurants and bars.
A previous planning application for the site, which included BTR apartments, was rejected last year.
Dublin has had an influx of aparthotel developments recently. City ID has just bought a site on Capel Street, Kennedy Wilson plans for an aparthotel at Coopers Cross, and Synergy recently added more Dublin apartments to its portfolio.
