UK: Asset management company Switch Hospitality Management has opened its aparthotel Birmingham Snowhill and appointed Ehatshum Chowdhury as general manager.

Housed in the former Royal Angus Hotel, aparthotel Birmingham Snowhill offers a choice of 10 accommodation type across 161 units, ranging from studios to two-bedroom apartments.

The ground floor, named The Hub, features a 12-seat boardroom alongside co-working spaces, and an on-site NISA Local is due to open in early 2024.

General manager Chowdhury brings more than 10 years of hospitality experience to the role. He previously held senior management positions at luxury resorts and hotel brands across the UK, as well as general manager of Roomzzz Aparthotel York City.

He most recently oversaw operations of multiple Premier Inn sites across Cheshire.

John Angus, managing director of Switch Hospitality, which is managing the site on behalf of owner SevenCapital, said: “Our ambition is for aparthotel Birmingham to become an industry-leading asset, combining a modern, highly sustainable design with exceptional service, where we have the ability to adapt to evolving guest demands.

“It is fantastic to have Ehatshum on board to support this vision. His previous managerial roles will be invaluable in ensuring we deliver the very best guest experiences at every touch point, whilst maximising returns for the asset owners.”

With an EPC rating of 10 A (0 A indicates net-zero carbon emissions), aparthotel Birmingham Snowhill produces lower emissions than industry average ratings of 68 C for existing stock and 17 A for new builds.

It runs off 100 per cent renewable energy generated entirely from solar and wind power. Heat pumps and heat recovery systems have also eliminated the use of fossil fuels.
