UK: Serviced apartment group Cheval Collection has appointed Tom Gibson to oversee its properties in Edinburgh as general manager.

Gibson joins Cheval from Virgin Hotels, where he was general manager of the group’s Glasgow property.

Other previous positions include general manager of The Glasshouse, Edinburgh, part of the Autograph Collection, and director of operations at the Dalmahoy, Marriott Hotel & Country Club.

Gibson said: “I am looking forward to working with the team at Cheval Collection at these three stunning properties. Edinburgh continues to go from strength to strength as a key destination for both leisure and business travellers and with it the appeal of luxury serviced apartments as a flexible home from home.”

John Philipson, COO, Cheval Collection, added: “We are privileged to have a leading position in Edinburgh and this is due in no small part to the strength of our team. Adding someone of Tom’s calibre can only serve to strengthen our position and it is a pleasure to welcome him to Cheval Collection.”

Cheval Collection has three properties in Scotland’s capital: Cheval The Edinburgh Grand on St Andrew Square, Cheval Old Town Chambers on the Royal Mile, and Cheval Abbey Strand Apartments at the Palace of Holyroodhouse. The portfolio has a total of 133 luxury apartments in the city.

Next year the group is planning to launch Cheval Maison – West Regent, located in Glasgow, which will be the fourth property in Scotland.

Cheval Collection currently operates nine locations in London, three in Edinburgh and one in Dubai.

A second Dubai site, Cheval Maison – Expo City Dubai, is due to open in 2025. A debut property in Saudi Arabia, Cheval Ladun Living, located in Riyadh, is set to be completed in 2027.
