UK: UAE-based developer Arada has acquired a site in Southwark as part of its continued expansion in the UK residential market, with plans to deliver a new co-living scheme in the borough.

The site at 99-101 Newington Causeway, previously occupied by the Salvation Army, will be redeveloped into a mixed-use scheme comprising co-living accommodation and hotel space, subject to planning approval. The development will be delivered by Arada London, the group’s UK arm.

Located close to Elephant and Castle, the site sits within an area undergoing significant regeneration. The project marks Arada’s third development in Southwark, following earlier schemes in the borough.

The developer said the scheme will contribute to meeting demand for new housing in central London and forms part of its wider strategy to expand its UK footprint. The wider pipeline includes more than 16,000 homes, with plans to grow this to 30,000 units in the coming years.

The site forms part of the New Southwark Plan, which aims to increase housing supply and support regeneration across the borough.
