France: Aparthotel brand Adagio has increased the number of its Green Key-certified properties to 78 in 2026, marking a milestone in its sustainability programme.
The aparthotel operator added 20 newly certified properties this year, bringing more than 60 per cent of its total portfolio under the Green Key sustainability label. The certification programme was launched across the network in 2025.
The most recent Green Key awards were presented at a ceremony in Strasbourg, where 18 aparthotels in France received certification. Internationally, Adagio now operates 27 certified properties across 10 countries, including Germany, the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland, as well as sites in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
The certified portfolio includes a mix of operating models. Of the 78 Green Key aparthotels, 58 are directly managed by Adagio, 14 are franchised and six operate under master franchise agreements.
Green Key is an international sustainability certification for tourist accommodation, covering areas such as energy efficiency, water and waste management, responsible purchasing and environmental awareness. Adagio said certification has led to measurable operational changes across its properties.
According to the group, certified sites have recorded a 4% reduction in energy consumption per occupied apartment, water savings of up to five per cent per guest at French properties, and the processing of more than 20 tonnes of biowaste through local partnerships. Other measures include the increased use of repairable appliances and initiatives linked to urban biodiversity.
Adagio said Green Key certification forms a central part of its wider CSR strategy focused on sustainable urban hospitality. The group aims to achieve 100 per cent Green Key certification across its portfolio, with further properties expected to be certified during 2026.
