France: Aparthotels Adagio has appointed former Club Med regional CEO Xavier Desaulles as its new CEO.

Desaulles takes over from Karim Malak who has taken up the CEO role at EasyHotel.

A graduate of HEC Paris and INSEAD, Desaulles joins from Club Med, where he spent the last six years as CEO East South Asia & Pacific based in Singapore, before taking over as CEO for the China and Asia Pacific markets, based in Shanghai.

Desaulles began his career with the Rémy Cointreau Group, where he spent 14 years as marketing director for Remy Martin and Louis XIII, sales director for Remy Cointreau USA and finally managing director for South-East Asia, India, and the Middle East.

He is tasked with driving the expansion of Adagio’s aparthotel network in Europe and in new markets. By developing new products such as coliving and offers adapted to new lifestyles such as the Commuters offer launched in November 2021, Adagio is determined to consolidate its position as an innovator and leader in the aparthotel sector.

“With ten new openings planned this year, including Glasgow, Hamburg, and Rome, 2022 promises to be dynamic and full of new developments. My ambition is to develop the Adagio brand responsibly and with commitment, and to further strengthen our position as the European market leader in the aparthotel sector. These developments will allow us to meet the economic, social and environmental challenges of our urban environment,” said Desaulles.

Created in partnership with Accorhotels and Pierre & Vacances Center Parcs Group, the brand has three product ranges: Adagio (midscale), Adagio access (economy) and Adagio premium (upscale). It has a target of 200 aparthotels worldwide by 2024.
