EUROPE: Adagio, a European leader in aparthotels, has confirmed it has appointed Jean-Marc Schnell as its new chief operating officer.

Schnell will also be a member of the brand’s management committee.

Schnell will aim to capitalise on the strong growth in activity of the brand to mobilise the talents of the sector and use his experience as a leader in the hotel industry over three decades.

As a member of the management committee, he will support Adagio’s growth plan, leading the operations team in France and Europe, implementing the renovation plan and monitoring the transformation of the network.

Schnell will also support Adagio’s ambitious development plan in France and internationally and participate in Adagio’s CSR ambition.

Jean-Marc Schnell said: “I am here to lead Adagio towards improvement and increased results. My objective will be to support development, among other things through franchising, in a human and responsible way of thinking, with customer satisfaction at the heart”.

Schnell has built his experience in the field starting as the director of independent hotels in the regions (Alsace and Calvados) following the director of the franchised Sofitel of Montpellier.

He joined the ACCOR group in 2003 to develop operations in Africa with a network of 40 hotels in 15 countries until 2016.

He finally joined the ACCOR Centre Europe team, based in Munich, as VP operations economy and midscale segments for Germany and Austria before becoming SVP operations franchises and in charge of owner relations during the Covid crisis with more than 70 partners.

Adagio is celebrating 15 years since it launched in Paris.
