Kenya: Ascott Limited has opened it first serviced residence property in Kenya with the Somerset Westview Nairobi.

The 11 storey property on Nyangumi Road is in an affluent part of the capital close to shopping centres, restaurants and International Schools.

The Somerset Westview Nairobi features 162 rooms including one and two bed apartments.

One bed apartments are 55 square metres and two bed apartments are up to 94 square metres. All apartments have ensuite bedrooms and living areas to relax in, as well as fully equipped kitchens with stoves, microwaves, grills, washing machines and dyers.

Facilities at the serviced residence include a restaurant, bar, two lounges (including a rooftop lounge) and a swimming pool and gym. There are also meeting facilities available.

Vincent Miccolis, Ascott’s managing director for the Middle East, Africa, Turkey and India said: “We are delighted to open Somerset Westview Nairobi and tap into the vast growth potential for modern and stylish serviced apartment accommodation in the heart of Kenya’s vibrant capital.”

Miccolis added: “Nairobi is East Africa’s destination hub for both leisure and business travellers. With a perceived demand for quality, extended-stay and internationally-branded residences, this represents a lucrative opportunity for Ascott to set the benchmark with its popular and award-winning Somerset brand.”

The Ascott Limited is slated to open several new properties in the Middle Eastern, African, and Central Asian markets including Ascott the Residence, Somerset and Citadines and is on track to achieve its regional target of adding 6,000 units to its Middle East, Africa, and Turkey portfolio, to reach a total of 10,000 units by 2025.
