UK: Dutch aparthotel operator, City ID has got the planning it needs for an eight storey aparthotel in London’s Westminster.

An application for an aparthotel on the same site on behalf of 4C Hotel Group was originally turned down in 2018. The 10 storey aparthotel with 169 keys was rejected when councillors felt it would result in unacceptable ‘sense of enclosure and loss of light’ to neighbouring residents.

The new application, secured by ROK Planning and designed by Dexter Moren Associates, is a scaled back version of the original building.

City ID bought the site in 2021 from 4C Hotel Group. When it’s completed the building will be the first aparthotel in the UK for the Dutch hotel group.

The eight storey, 137 room aparthotel will feature a restaurant and bar and a gym. Bicycle storage will be located in the basement, with two residential apartments with private entrances on the first floor. The building will also feature a green roof.

The planning decision was granted by unanimous approval at committee, with councillors praising the design improvements and sustainability credentials of the scheme.

The aparthotel will be within a three-minute walk from London’s Victoria Station, and close to the capital’s business district, landmarks and cultural hotspots. There are also good links to the city’s major airports.

City ID is a fast-growing hotel group based in Amsterdam specialising in developing aparthotels suitable for short and longer stays.
