Australia: Goodwin has opened its seventh retirement village in Canberra, adding 20 serviced apartments alongside 109 independent living apartments designed to support older residents.

Located in Downer, the development was built by Manteena Group and designed by CK Architecture. The village also includes affordable rental homes delivered in partnership with Community Housing Canberra, aimed at widening access to retirement living.

Stephen Holmes, chief executive officer of Goodwin, said the development reflects the organisation’s commitment to creating connected communities that support independent living for older Australians.

The opening comes as Goodwin continues to expand its retirement living portfolio, with a further 56 apartments planned as part of the next stage of its Goodwin Village Monash development. The apartments will be designed to adapt to residents’ changing needs over time.

Founded in 1954, Goodwin operates retirement villages, residential aged care and home care services across the Australian Capital Territory.
