UK: Higgihaus Ltd has had an application approved to convert a former bookies in Cardiff into an aparthotel and coworking space.
The application was submitted in November last year by Higgihaus Ltd, which was founded three years ago.
The Bristol-based investment company specialises in “reimagining and refurbishing” empty buildings and turning them into shared homes, serviced accommodation and boutique hotels.
Plans for the Cardiff property include a 16-key aparthotel as well as office space and a coworking space on the ground and lower ground floor.
The application describes the apartments as: “Designed for extended stays for up to two guests, [the loft apartment] is a serviced micro-apartment that cleverly delivers the functionality of a living room, full kitchen, dining room, bedroom, bathroom, office, and home gym from a small space.”
Guests will be able to book meeting rooms, work at desks and use the kitchen in the coworking space.
The property is located close to the train station in the middle of a vibrant restaurant, coffee shop and bar scene.
Higgihaus plans on creating 1,000 rooms in its portfolio by 2025.
In March this year another aparthotel was granted planning permission for C2J Architects to convert a grade II-listed property in Cardiff Bay.
