Australia: Accor’s Sebel serviced apartments brand is set to open in Moonee Ponds, north-west Melbourne.
The Sebel Melbourne Moonee Ponds will be part of the Mason Square development. It will offer 97 serviced apartments across an eight-storey building. Of these, 89 will be in a one-bedroom layout and nine more will have two bedrooms. Each will offer a balcony and full kitchen facilities.
Guest facilities will include a fitness centre, meeting spaces, a restaurant and underground parking, while ground floor retail spaces will be leased separately to external parties. The Mason Square precinct is located close to Moonee Ponds racecourse and Flemington, home of the Melbourne Cup race each year. The Sebel Melbourne Moonee Ponds will be the 31st Sebel branded property in Australia.
Accor chief operating officer Pacific, Simon McGrath, said the Mason Square precinct was an urban renewal project revitalising Melbourne’s north-west: “Accor strategically jumped at the opportunity to introduce the international upscale serviced apartment brand to the precinct, with owners JMS Hospitality and Management, in the burgeoning area of Moonee Ponds, already well known amongst the racing fraternity, and soon to become the accommodation of choice for those visiting the area.”</p
