Ireland: The owners of the Omni Park shopping centre in Santry, north Dublin are planning to build an aparthotel and residential apartments on an adjoining site.

The Omni Park Shopping Centre Consortium is consulting with An Bord Pleanala about the project, which would involve demolishing a vacant warehouse. Its plans include 324 apartments, an 81-bedroom aparthotel and creche.

The consultation is the first stage in the strategic housing development planning system, which allows for fast-track decisions for large residential projects. The planning board will give the developers a decision on whether the proposal is suitable or needs changes.

The Omni Park centre is owned by the Dublin building group MKN and private clients of stockbroker Goodbody. The 23-acre site includes the shopping centre, an 11-screen cinema, and a retail park.
