UK: The Ascott Limited has appointed Billy Hughes as UK area manager to drive company growth, enhance guest experience and increase operational efficiency.
Hughes, who has previously held multiple general manager roles across London and the UK including recently the 800-bedroom Tower Hotel and The Grosvenor Hotel, brings a wealth of experience to Ascott, more than 20 years’ experience in the hospitality sector.
In his new role, Hughes will be responsible for a portfolio of five Citadines aparthotels and The Cavendish London in Mayfair; as well as overseeing the launch and managing the new Citadines Islington London property, which is set to open next summer.
Hughes said: “The opportunity to work for a global brand that is not just talking about an acquisition and growth strategy but is actually doing it is really exciting. There is an incredible feeling of momentum in the UK, and I’m excited to work with Ascott’s dynamic and passionate team to continue to build a strong reputation for quality and reliable service, which is of the utmost importance to travellers, expatriates and property owners.”
The appointment of Hughes and the recent move to the UK of Frederic Carré, regional general manager for UK, Germany, Spain and Georgia, sees Ascott expand its UK presence significantly. Carré has been with Ascott for 16 years, overseeing different areas across France, Belgium and Germany, as well as leading Franchise development for Europe.
“Billy’s strong background in the sector will help drive the continued growth of the company in this market, with his passion for technological innovation and project management evident,” said Carré. “As we ramp up to the launch of Citadines Islington London, Billy’s operational expertise will be invaluable in him identifying new opportunities for both market and network expansion.”
