Mauritius: Thai operator Centara Hotels & Resorts is set to open the five-star Centara Grand Azuri Residence & Suites Mauritius complex.

Opening in January, the development is the company’s first overseas serviced apartment project. Located on the north-east coast of the island, it will consist of apartments and townhouses.

The development is set directly on the beach and is part of the Azuri oceanfront village, a 420-acre mixed-use development that features luxury residences, retail outlets and marine services.

Centara Grand Azuri Residence & Suites Mauritius is adjacent to the five-star Centara Grand Azuri Resort & Spa Mauritius, which opened in December 2013. Residents will have complete access to the facilities of the sister resort.

Thirayuth Chirathivat, chief executive officer of Centara Hotels & Resorts, said: “This is a very significant moment for our Residence & Suites brand, taking us overseas for the first time and with the beautiful, high profile setting of Azuri oceanfront village. We believe the serviced apartments concept complements perfectly the facilities of our new resort, and is also ideal for Azuri itself, offering a luxurious home-from-home for those who wish for a long-stay holiday, or who prefer self-catering and completely independent living.”

The development is located 25 kilometres from the capital city of Port Louis and just over an hour’s drive from the international airport.
