UK: Hospitality operator Cycas has been appointed to operate the HQ Aparthotel Farnborough, part of the family-run Ashley Hotels portfolio.

For the past five years, HQ Aparthotel Farnborough has been trading as the SACO Aparthotel. When the current operator decided not to renew, operational real estate agency Saxbury was appointed to lead an operator search for the site.

The property offers 72 keys across a mix of studio and one bedroom apartments. Rooms are fitted with a kitchen, Samsung Smart TVs, and come with living areas.

Cycas Hospitality, which oversees a portfolio of more than 7,000 rooms throughout Europe, will now operate the Farnborough aparthotel.

Craig Patterson, VP development and property at Cycas Hospitality, said: “The appointment to manage HQ Aparthotel Farnborough is incredibly exciting for Cycas Hospitality, representing an important consolidation of our strength within the extended stay sector, both in the UK and across continental Europe. The inclusion of this hotel brings the Cycas portfolio to over 50 hotels.”

Ben Davis, who managed the search campaign at Saxbury, said: “Acknowledging that HQ Aparthotel was the most prominent extended stay property in Farnborough, we recognised that it was necessary to appoint a new partner with a nuanced understanding of the product. With significant extended stay experience, Cycas was the natural choice. HQ Aparthotel will undoubtedly become a compelling primary choice of stay for an expanding customer base in Farnborough.”

Zamir Hirji, director at Ashley Hotels, said: “Saxbury has been brilliant in helping us manage what was a very uncertain transition period during our business, providing sound advice in an impartial manner. I would recommend Saxbury to anyone in or looking to enter the serviced apartment sector.”
