Saudi Arabia: Luxury serviced apartment property Fairmont Ramla Serviced Residences has been awarded Green Globe certification, achieving a compliance score of 98 per cent.
The Green Globe Certification Standard includes 44 criteria in four groups (sustainable management, social/economic, cultural heritage and environmental), supported by over 380 compliance indicators. Members begin with certification and progress to gold and platinum based on continuous improvement.
Rock Shield International conducted the audit of Fairmont Ramla Serviced Residences.
Sustainability initiatives at the property include low flow rate water fixtures in guest rooms and public toilets, a grey water system for showers and wash basins for water reuse, GRMS (guest room management system), BMS (building management system), KNX (lighting control), CMS (chiller management system), motion sensors, LED lighting and VDFs for all pumps and motors, and parking CO (carbon monoxide) system to reduce emissions.
Waste and food waste management practices involve segregation, measurement, and control of waste carried out through partnerships with local specialised companies. Additionally, the hotel has replaced all plastic products with environmentally friendly alternatives.
