Belgium: Residence Inn has made its Belgian debut with the opening of the 105-key Residence Inn Ghent.
Owned by GE Holdings and operated by Interstate Hotels & Resorts, the property features studios and one-bedroom suites with separate living and sleeping areas and a fully equipped kitchen.
“With so much to see in Ghent and beyond, Residence Inn Ghent allows guests to truly settle in to the Belgian way of life” said John Licence, vice president premium and select brands at Marriott International, Europe. “The opening marks the brand’s eleventh property in Europe. With a quickly expanding European portfolio – a pipeline of over 15 openings over the next two years – the brand responds to the growing demand for extended-stay within the continent.”
Harry Gross, CEO at developer Granit Group, said “We are continuously enthusiastic about Ghent and have confidence the addition of Residence Inn by Marriott, the first specifically designed extended-stay hotel in the city, will fill a need expressed by Ghent’s visitors. We thank Mathias De Clercq, the mayor of Ghent, as well as Bram Van Braeckevelt, the alderman for tourism, for their support and are looking forward to continuing to invest in the city.”</p
