Finland: Trading sector operator Kesko has partnered with serviced apartment provider Forenom to launch an aparthotel in Porvoo.

The project will be developed next to the Taidetehdas venue in the Länsiranta area on the west bank of Porvoonjoki.

It will feature a Forenom aparthotel with 51 residences, ranging from studios to three-bedroom units. All units will include a kitchen and some residences will offer private saunas and balconies.

The aparthotel will also aim for BREEAM Very Good certification.

An additional 50 apartments and a K-Citymarket hypermarket form part of the project too.

Forenom CEO Jussi Saarinen said: “We are proud to partake in an international-level development project that introduces a new type of accommodation to Porvoo. Being one of Finland’s tourism gems, increasing the accommodation capacity of the city is important for Porvoo. The new aparthotel will provide our key customers with more options, as well as expand our offering to new segments.”

Mika Sivula, district director of Southern Finland at Kesko, said: “Our project’s commencement is a really significant step in developing the services of the Taidetehdas area. By collaborating closely with local stakeholders, we want to create something new in Porvoo, and Forenom was the best choice as the hotel operator in the project thanks to the versatility of their service concept.”
