UK: LABS Collective has announced a new programme to promote safe social distancing and increase hygiene standards across its STAY and LABS brands.
The measures focus on the prioritisation of personal space and member and guest wellbeing, with an emphasis on health and safety.
It will most notably be implemented at Hawley Wharf, Camden, where LABS and STAY guests use the same entrance. Visitor screenings will be in operation for everyone entering the building, and appropriate PPE provisions are mandatory for all staff.
Across all eight LABS coworking locations (twelve by the end of 2020), the company will introduce professional distancing, distributing traffic flow through one-way systems, reducing capacity, avoiding density in the working day by extending operational hours, and adjusting reception cover.
A protective barrier technology will also be applied to surfaces, providing long-term coverage to kill bacteria. The layout of desks will be reconfigured to ensure safe distancing between workstations.
Increased ventilation to improve filtration and optimised humidity to aid air purity will also be incorporated.
STAY Camden, the group’s residential brand, has remained open and operational since the pandemic began. It has reduced touch points across its three apartment buildings, including the use of a digital link to pay instead of the chip and pin machine.
A barrier spray is applied to all furniture that kills pathogens, and each apartment receives a 24 hour deep clean upon guest check out. A perforated sticker will then be attached to the front door, which guests have to physically break to enter the apartment.
Dotan Weiner, COO at LABS Collective said: “As a business, our first priority is always the safety and wellbeing of our staff, members and guests. The measures we are putting in place will remain so long as the threat of COVID-19 does, but will also inform our strategic approach to design and operations in the long term. We hope that the best practices and protocols implemented allow guests and members to feel confident and supported when returning to work and checking in to STAY.”</p
