US: NexGen Hotels has broken ground on a 96-key TownePlace Suites in Waukegan, Illinois.

The property is being built at Interstate 94 and State Route 94, about four miles from downtown Waukegan. It is part of the 30-acre Fountain Square shopping district, where four other hotels are operating. The City of Waukegan owns the land. Shaw Development Co. is the developer of Fountain Square.

The hotel site is near pharmaceutical companies Abbott and Abbvie; Cardinal Health, a health care supplier; and Cancer Treatment Centers of America. It is also near Naval Station Great Lakes and Six Flags Great America.

NexGen Hotels, headed by CEO Deepak Shah, expects the hotel to open in summer 2020.

Genuine Hospitality LLC of St. Louis, Missouri, will manage the property. It also manages other lodging assets developed by NexGen Hotels, including Four Points by Sheraton hotels in Illinois and Nebraska. </p
