China: Onyx Hospitality Group has announced a management agreement under the serviced apartment brand Shama in Hong Kong.
Onyx will rebrand a 24-key serviced apartment building in Hong Kong, effective from 1 May 2016. To be called Shama Midlevels, the property is at 9K Kennedy Road, one of the most upscale neighbourhoods on Hong Kong’s Island side. It features 24 60-square metre one-bedroom apartments.
“Shama has a strong tie to its roots in Hong Kong. We are thrilled to expand our portfolio with the new Shama Midlevels, offering our guests another enviable living option in this vibrant city. Our booking status has already shown positive signs and met our initial expectations,” said Tommy Lai, vice president, North Asia, Onyx Hospitality Group. “As the global economy is slowing down, we see most of the relocation projects of the foreign and multinational companies tend to be mid-to-short-term ones together with an upward trend, making serviced apartments with flexible lease terms like Shama Midlevels a desirable accommodation choice for them.”
Onyx currently manages five properties throughout Hong Kong – four serviced apartments under the Shama brand, and a select-serviced hotel under the Ozo brand.
