Philippines: Developer Majestic Legacy Home Development Corp. sees promising growth in serviced apartments and is planning to capitalise on Cebu’s vibrant tourism industry.

The company is building a 100-unit serviced apartment development in Lahug, which will be completed in 2017. The 12-storey building will feature fully-furnished studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units.

“We are trying to introduce another concept of accommodation in Cebu which will initially cater to transients and long-staying guests,” said Mario Lua, owner of Majestic Legacy. “Serviced-apartments are really showing strong demand.”

The company’s market research found that “there are guests who prefer to stay in this type of accommodation because they provide a host of advantages and conveniences such as cooking, which can’t be offered by hotels”.
