New Zealand: Auckland developer Colombo Projects has received planning permission for a NZ$20 million project in central Christchurch.

The aparthotel, private apartment and retail complex has been designed for 818 Colombo St, a property previously earmarked for the Miro luxury apartment block. The site is owned by Colombo Projects Ltd, headed by Auckland-based developer Andrew Fonagy.

The project will include a 48 unit aparthotel on levels one to four, ranging in size from studio to two-bedroom. Six residential units on levels five and six will be offered for sale to buyers at just under $1m each. At street level there will be shops, a cafe, a reception area, and access to onsite car parking.

Cladding for the building will be a mixture of glazing, aluminium composite panels, terracotta cladding, woodgrain panels, powder coated aluminium louvres, painted and stained precast concrete, and fibre cement sheeting.

Construction is expected to start in the third quarter of this year, and completed in late 2017.</p
