US: A 110-key Residence Inn is set to open in Corpus Christi, Texas, in August of this year.

The hotel will cater to guests who stay five nights or more and is owned by RGB Management. The company also owns the Holiday Inn Corpus Christi Downtown Marina and about a dozen others in Corpus Christi and Portland.

The hospitality company bought a two-acres site in 2015 that had a vacant car lot and boarded up buildings. Construction on the new build 98,000-square-foot, five-story structure started shortly before Hurricane Harvey struck in August 2017.

“This hotel represents not just us but Corpus Christi,” said Ajit David, one of the hotel owners. “This building will become part of the Corpus Christi skyline for years to come. Marriott came down, and they saw the potential the site has with all the resources, with the beautiful bay front and marina,” David said. “Our downtown is very underutilised.”

The hotel will have a full bar, heated outdoor pool, large fitness centre and meeting rooms. It will benefit from a city grant program funded by a downtown reinvestment zone created in 2008. The program will provide RGB Management a 10-year tax reimbursement on city, county and Del Mart College taxes for the hotel.</p
