France: Staycity has announced the opening of a new aparthotel in the French city of Bordeaux, one of two new openings this month.
The aparthotel opening in Bordeaux, the Staycity Aparthotels Bordeaux-City Centre, will contain 125 apartments. These contemporary studio apartments will range from sleeping two to four people. Apartments also contain a kitchen and dining area.
Other amenities at the property, which is owned by La Francaise Group, will include a cafe, a gym, free WIFI, and on-site parking.
The walk to the riverfront from the Staycity Aparthotels Bordeaux-City Centre is about six minutes. The property is also within walking distance of many popular Bordeaux attractions, including opportunities to view the city’s architecture and taste its cuisine and wine.
Staycity has begun to see an increase in guests for its properties as Covid restrictions gradually begin to lift.
Paula Mullaney, commercial director for Staycity, said: “The UK in particular has been busy since restrictions were lifted in the middle of May. Across all 11 of our UK properties occupancies reached 85% during the second May Bank Holiday which compares favourably to the same weekend in 2019 when occupancies were 91%. The same weekend last year, during the height of the pandemic, saw occupancy drop to just 25%.”
Staycity also opened a location in Heidelberg this month. The openings of the Heidelberg and Bordeaux locations are the company’s first openings since the pandemic began.
These openings are two of many that Staycity has on the horizon. The company plans to open ten more properties in the next two years.
Mullaney said: “We are delighted to open these two fantastic properties, both in beautiful European cities and we’re looking forward to a very busy summer with the majority of our locations forecasting high occupancies, particularly for weekends. We are confident a number of our trading properties will achieve revenues similar to that of 2019.”
