Netherlands: Developer Heren2 and operator Cycas Hospitality have celebrated the topping out of a dual-branded project in Amsterdam.
The project, on the Danzigerkade in the Houthaven’s area of Amsterdam, will feature a 60-unit Marriott Residence Inn and a 120-room Moxy hotel. Designed by architects ZZDP, the dual-branded hotel project in one building will open in autumn 2017.
The hotels overlook the IJ and the western port and the interiors have been designed by Atelier Floor in collaboration with architects Koning Ellis. The hotel’s gym and swimming pool, will be operated by The Athletic Club.
Eduard Elias, managing partner of Cycas Hospitality, said: “This marks a major milestone in the progress of construction and for the growth of Cycas with our first extended-stay hotel concept for the Netherlands. According to new research from Deloitte, London has been replaced by Amsterdam as Europe’s most attractive hotel investment destination. We see great potential in the Houthaven’s area and both hotels will be attractive to the business and leisure traveller, uniquely offering guests a fantastic level of choice in one destination.”
Heren2 is acting as investment developer and contractor. Heren2 focuses on sustainable development on the banks of the IJ Amsterdam. Cycas Hospitality has a long term rental agreement with Heren2 to manage and develop the hotels.
Cycas Hospitality has also recently agreed heads of terms together with Slough Urban Renewal (SUR) for a dual-branded Marriott project – again with Moxy and Residence Inn – in Slough.</p
