US: A six-storey extended stay hotel has been proposed for downtown Rochester, Minnesota.
The proposed site is located at the intersection of 6th Avenue SW and 2nd Street SW. During a public hearing this week, North Rock Real Estate brought the plan before Rochester City Council.
The TownePlace Suites by Marriott would be the first mid-scale hotel brought to the downtown area in more than 30 years
“We have taken a lot of care to design this to be a good asset to the community, but also to really do a good job of taking care of those who visit Rochester,” said Jeff Brown of North Rock Real Estate.
The proposed hotel would have two levels of underground parking. The plans also include a lounge that would serve as a coffee shop by day and bar by night, which will be open to the public as well as guests.
Unanimous preliminary approval was given at the meeting. A final hearing will be held at a later date.</p
