UK: Proposals to build a serviced apartment building in Cardiff have been recommended for approval by the local council.
Drake Walk Ltd has lodged plans for the construction of a six-storey building with 77 aparthotel units, rooms adjacent to Drake Walk. It has committed to contributing more than ÂŁ100,000 to benefit the local area if the approval is secured.
The aparthotel element of the building is located on the upper five floors of the building, with a commercial space and lobby area on the ground floor. The application site is a parcel of land at the western boundary of the Waterfront 2000 office park, directly west of the Dock Feeder Canal.
A statement filed on behalf of the applicant with Cardiff Council, whose planning committee meets on 19 August, said: “The proposed scheme will take maximum advantage of the site’s position within this established residential/commercial area to create high a quality sustainable development.”
A report to be discussed by the committee recommends that the plans be given the green light.
