UK: Aparthotel operator Moment Stays, part of Malyon Group, is targeting five properties across the United Kingdom after it secured £2 million in guest revenue.

Moment Stays operates two properties in Scotland: a seven-unit aparthotel in Edinburgh (on George IV Bridge) and a six-key property in Glasgow (on Blythswood Street).

Over the first 12 months of operating, the company said it has achieved 91 per cent occupancy, serving more than 3,500 guests and generated £1 million bookings. According to Moment, its booking revenue has doubled for 2026 and 2027.

The team are now targeting further expansion across the UK and Europe through equity ownership, leasehold, or hotel management agreements.

Laurence Malyon, co-founder of Moment Stays, said: “It’s been a strong year, and we’re open in two very different, but equally brilliant cities. Occupancy in both has been right where we want it to be, with distinct groups of visitors favouring them: Edinburgh has mainly been short stays from tourists, while Glasgow has had more interest from business travellers and visitors for events, along with a smaller share of tourists.

“Over the course of the next two years, we plan to open a minimum of five new sites, likely starting with the UK’s cultural hubs. Manchester, Cambridge, York, and, of course, London all feel like natural fits. Further afield, we also have Amsterdam, Lisbon, Budapest, and Rome in our sights,” he added.

Malyon Group was co-founded in 2024 by partners Laurence Malyon and Becky McAleer. It has grown to a team of eight – all of whom are under the age of 35 – with plans to expand the team alongside its portfolio of brands and properties.

Prior to Malyon Group, Malyon co-founded Donnini Apartments, a short-stay holiday accommodation business. The company grew to a team of 25 operating around 70 units across Ayrshire, before he exited in March 2024.
