
UK: A salary survey of UK serviced apartment companies has revealed a significantly broader range of pay for several positions than this time last year.
The survey, conducted by the Association of Serviced Apartment Providers, gathered information on 65 job titles across 30 companies. There has been considerable variation in levels of pay for certain positions in the space of a year.
The position of sales director commanded the highest average salary both in London – ÂŁ63,833, as well as in the rest of the UK – ÂŁ59,625. Last year finance controllers had the highest average salary in London at ÂŁ53,123.97
This year, finance manager/controller was the second best paid position in London with an average salary reported of ÂŁ60,827 (last year: ÂŁ53,123.97); while for the rest of the UK the second highest average salary recorded was for the position of IT manager – ÂŁ56,192. Last year the highest average salary in other UK areas was for head of revenue management at ÂŁ47,333
The salary for the position of head housekeeper ranged from the minimum in London of ÂŁ24,000, the average being ÂŁ33,024 and the maximum being ÂŁ51,994. In the rest of the UK the minimum head housekeeper salary reported was ÂŁ12,000, the average was ÂŁ21,098 and the maximum was ÂŁ28,500.
The position of operations manager commanded an even wider range of salary – in London the range was between the minimum of ÂŁ22,000 (last year: ÂŁ28,000), the average was ÂŁ38,833 (up from ÂŁ37,373 last year) and the maximum was ÂŁ60,000 (last year ÂŁ60,600). In the rest of the UK the minimum operations manager salary was ÂŁ19,000 (last year ÂŁ28,000), the average was ÂŁ30,179 and the maximum was ÂŁ46,350.
The importance of the revenue management function is underlined by the salaries reported for the position of head of revenue manager where in London the minimum salary was ÂŁ40,000, the average was ÂŁ53,667 and the maximum ÂŁ60,000. Out of London the minimum salary reported was ÂŁ34,000, the average was ÂŁ42,000 and the maximum was ÂŁ50,000.
The salaries reported are for full time positions and include any bonus or commission, except for the positions of housekeeping supervisors and housekeeping attendants where some operators pay an hourly rate, hence both the hourly rate and annual salaries have been quoted.
