US: Mint House, the tech-enabled brand with apartment style hospitality across the US, will open two new Philadelphia properties this year.
One of the new aparthotels is The Divine Lorraine Hotel, which is owned by EB Realty Management Corp. Mint House already has another property, Mint House The Ledger, in Philadelphia.
Mint House will also open a 47-unit full building conversion in Philadelphia’s Old City neighbourhood in Q4 of this year.
Elizabeth Herzberg, Mint House’s vice president of development said: “Our partnerships with The Ledger and The Divine Lorraine Hotel, two historic buildings that are an important part of Philadelphia’s rich history and current real estate development, are ideal locations for our innovative residential hospitality model. As travellers continue to stay longer, extending their trips and working more from the road, we believe Mint House will continue to meet consumer demands with more space for smarter stays.”
Built in 1893, the historic property The Divine Lorraine Hotel was the first racially integrated hotel in America. Developer Eric Blumenfeld bought the building in 2012 and after a multi-million-dollar restoration, has partnered with Mint House. Phase one of its full building expansion will open this month.
The property will feature contemporary interiors, sympathetic to the building’s heritage and if guests like what they see they will be able to buy the decor and products on their phones and have them sent home using Mint House’s Shop Your Stay programme.
All apartments will feature full kitchens, living areas, laundry machines and contactless and mobile-first check-in.
The aparthotel will also offer a fine dining Italian restaurant and a wood fired pizza place, as well as four venues operated by Underground Concepts, including a coffee shop, an all day restaurant and event space, a cocktail bar and recording studio.
Mint House at The Ledger Philadelphia opened in May this year, after a multi-million-dollar adaptive reuse project, and features 40 loft apartments with full kitchens, dedicated workspaces and washers and dryers.
The property offers a fitness centre offering on-demand classes, lounge, private workspaces and bookable conference rooms.
Today, Mint House has more than 22 tech-first properties in more than 15 major US cities, including New York, Miami, Austin, Denver and Nashville.
Recent and upcoming openings include New Orleans, Philadelphia and Seattle.
In May this year the former CEO of Four Seasons Hotel & Resorts joined Mint House’s board.
