UK: Developer Drake Walk Ltd has submitted plans for a 69-key aparthotel at Cardiff’s Atlantic Wharf.
The six-storey property is planned for Drake Walk in Brigantine Place and will be built across the historic Bute Dock Feeder Canal.
A planning application for the site was previously submitted to Cardiff Council in 2018 with the intention of building a 91-bed PBSA block.
Permission for this original proposal was granted but the application was amended in June 2020 as the development changed to an apartment block containing 77 serviced apartments. This amendment was also approved but the application has now been changed again with the number of planned apartments for the project being reduced by eight.
If approved, the new building will be the first Roomzzz in Wales, will comprise studio and one-bedroom apartments, commercial and amenity space on the ground floor. There will be 26 cycle spaces but no car parking spaces.
The project will see the public riverside walkway rerouted while the adjacent dock feeder footbridge will also receive renovation work.
The wider Atlantic Wharf area will eventually feature more than 1,000 new homes, entertainment and cultural attractions, hotels, offices, and a public square.
